Rubber farming technique – Guide to breeding

Selection of seedlings for rubber trees is one of the first steps in planting techniques. There are many types of rubber varieties with different characteristics that will be gained the different qualities of latex

1. RRIV 124 (LH 90/952):

Average yield of 9 years shaved to nearly 90 g / c / c, estimated productivity of 3.5 tons / ha / year (Preliminary selection in Lai Khe). The first year yield was lower than PB 235 but increased significantly from the third year onwards, with low yields at the lower shear and exceeding 100 g / c / c at BO2. Growing healthy in the time of KTCB, on the preliminary selection in Lai Khe, open the shaved mouth equivalent to PB 235. Increased the bar while shaving very well, straight body, high-volume of wood is very high. Grow well in many trial sites during the trial period. Good resistance to leaf diseases.

2. RRIV 109 (LH 83/290):

High yield early, leading in the trial production in An Loc, Dong Nai (Cam My), Loc Ninh; The first year was over 1 ton / ha, from 2 years onwards reached over 2 tons / ha. Grows well in the early stage – overruns RRIV 4, leading shears in test farms in Dong Phu, An Loc, Dong Nai. Good growth in mining.

The yield of 2.5 tons / ha in the favorable area, the growth rate of KTCB is very good – it can be exploited after 5 years of intensive cultivation (multi-leaf garden planted in Dong Nai, Phu Rieng). Growth while shaved, less infected, slightly curved.

4. PB 255:

The cloned male line in Malaysia from the PB 5/51 x PB 32/36 hybrid, introduced in Vietnam in 1978, is recommended for medium-scale planting since 1991. PB 255 grows moderately to fairly The duration of basic construction, high productivity, reaching 1.6 – 2.0 tons / ha / year in the Southeast and reaching 1.1 – 1.2 tons / ha / year in the Central Highlands under 600 m in height. The first 10 years of exploitation. In Quang Binh, PB 255 grew and produced higher yields than GT1 and PB 235, reaching 1,075 kg / ha / year in the first four years of harvesting. PB 255 grows well when shaved, the primary shell is quite thick, infected with white powdery mildew and deciduous in the rainy season, easily infected with ulcer scabbard face and pink mushroom, easy to pus, good response to latex stimulant.

It is possible to plant PB 255 in many rubber areas. A good wind resistance, PB 255 is also recommended for strong winds.

PB 260:

Malaysian clones from the PB 5/51 x PB49 hybrid, which is relatively resistant to winds in Malaysia but poor in Côte D’Ivoire, is recommended for extensive plantings in many countries. The PB 260 was introduced in Vietnam in 1978 and is recommended for medium production since 1994 and has been in production since 1997. The PB 260 average growth in the South East is similar to the GT1, but higher productivity, medium Annual average of 1.1 – 1.7 tons / ha / year. In the Central Highlands of 600-700 m high, PB 260 grew well and yielded better than GT1, PB 235. This variety grows at average shedding, mild infection with pink fungus, rainy seasonally deciduous, mild to moderate disease white powdery mildew and striped face, easy to dry pus, strong reaction when the scourge, appearing on the bumps on the regeneration shell.

PB 260 is recommended for large scale in the South East and Central Highlands, moderate in the Central, avoiding strong winds.
